Who can use Crossed
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the European Economic Area) to use Crossed. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, a parent or guardian must consent on your behalf.
You must provide accurate account information and are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
Your account
You can create a Crossed account by signing in with an email address. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Contact us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.
You may not:
- Create an account using someone else's email.
- Impersonate another person.
- Create multiple accounts for the purpose of abuse or spam.
- Share your account with others.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Crossed for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws.
- Harass, stalk, threaten, or harm other users.
- Attempt to identify another user's home, work, or precise location through the app or through any technical or social means.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app.
- Attempt to bypass privacy controls, including private zones or closeness levels set by other users.
- Use automated tools to interact with the app or its backend.
- Attempt to overwhelm, disrupt, or degrade the service.
The clause about attempting to identify another user's location is fundamental. Crossed is designed to prevent this technically, but any attempt to work around those protections — including social engineering, correlation attacks, or protocol abuse — is a violation of these Terms and grounds for immediate account termination.
Location data
To function, Crossed uses your device's location services in the background. By using the app, you consent to the collection and processing of location data as described in our Privacy Policy.
You control the sharing of your location data through:
- Enabling or disabling location permissions at the iOS level.
- Setting Private Zones within the app.
- Adjusting per-friend closeness levels.
You can stop sharing location data at any time by revoking location permissions in iOS Settings, though this will render the app non-functional.
User content
Crossed collects and displays limited user-provided content: usernames, display names, and your friend graph. You retain ownership of this content but grant us a limited license to use it as necessary to operate the service (for example, displaying your username to your friends).
You are responsible for the content you provide and represent that it does not violate anyone else's rights.
Termination
You can terminate your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Upon deletion, your account and all associated data are immediately and permanently removed.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraud or abuse, or if we are legally required to do so. Where reasonable and lawful, we will provide notice.
Terms that by their nature should survive termination (limitations of liability, dispute resolution, indemnification) will survive.
Service availability
Crossed is provided as is. We do not guarantee that the service will be available, error-free, or continuously operational. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
Location-based features depend on the accuracy of your device's GPS and cellular data and on the timing of background location updates from iOS. We do not guarantee that all near-misses will be detected or that detected near-misses are precisely accurate.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CROSSED IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the app will meet your requirements, be error-free, or protect against all possible security threats.
Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR OF CROSSED WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.
IN NO EVENT WILL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED $100 USD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator of Crossed from any claims arising from your use of the app or your violation of these Terms.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be notified within the app or via email. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any dispute arising from these Terms or from your use of Crossed will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the state where the operator of Crossed is registered.
